Product Description

An Elevator Overspeed Governor is a critical safety device installed in elevator systems to prevent the elevator car from moving at an unsafe speed, especially during a free fall or uncontrolled downward movement.

The governor continuously monitors the speed of the elevator car through a governor rope connected to the elevator safety gear. Under normal operation, the governor rotates freely. If the elevator exceeds its preset safe speed (usually due to a failure in the traction system, control system, or suspension components), the governor activates and performs the following actions:

  1. Detects overspeed condition The governor mechanism senses that the elevator is moving faster than the allowed limit.
  2. Trips the safety mechanism A centrifugal or electronic sensing system locks the governor.
  3. Stops the governor rope movement The locked governor pulls the safety gear linkage.
  4. Activates safety brakes The elevator car safety gear grips the guide rails and slows or stops the car safely.
  5. Cuts power (in many systems) An electrical switch may disconnect power to the elevator drive system.

Main Components:

  • Governor pulley/sheave Rotates with elevator movement.
  • Governor rope Connects the governor to the elevator safety gear.
  • Flyweights or sensors Detect excessive speed.
  • Trip mechanism Locks the governor during overspeed.
  • Safety switch Sends a signal to stop elevator operation.
  • Safety gear linkage Transfers the action to the car brakes.

Types of Overspeed Governors:

  • Mechanical centrifugal governor Uses rotating weights to detect overspeed.
  • Electronic overspeed governor Uses sensors and control electronics for monitoring and activation.

Fast and Dependable Braking

Experience peace of mind with a braking system that reacts in just 0.2 seconds and is engineered to last beyond one million operational cycles. The surface is finished with powder coating or paint, ensuring protection against wear and corrosion even in demanding environments.

Versatile and Customizable Applications

Our system supports both traction and gearless elevators, with load capacities ranging from 1000 kg to 2000 kg. Whether required for residential, commercial, or industrial elevators, customization options are available to suit unique design needs and installation conditions.

Advanced Safety Features

Safety is prioritized through electromagnetic or manual release mechanisms, a microprocessor or relay-based control device, and spring-applied, electromagnetically released braking. The system operates quietly, ensuring a comfortable experience for users while delivering reliable emergency response.

FAQ's of Elevator Braking System:

Q: How does the elevator braking system enhance elevator safety?

A: The system utilizes a mechanical and electromagnetic braking mechanism, featuring a spring-applied, electromagnetically released design. This ensures rapid, reliable response during power loss or emergencies, minimizing risks and securing passenger safety.

Q: What environments and elevator types is the braking system suitable for?

A: The brake is ideal for both traction and gearless elevators, compatible with installations in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Its robust materials and surface finishing ensure long-term durability in diverse conditions.

Q: When should I consider customizing the braking system?

A: Customization is recommended when your project requires specific dimensions, mounting, or operational characteristics beyond our standard range. We work with distributors, manufacturers, suppliers, or traders to deliver tailored solutions for unique elevator designs.

Q: Where is the braking system installed within the elevator setup?

A: This braking system is base mounted, typically at the machine room or elevator top, depending on the elevator design. Proper mounting ensures optimal performance and straightforward maintenance.

Q: What is the typical service life and maintenance interval of the brake?

A: With a service life of over one million cycles, routine inspection and basic maintenance are generally recommended as per elevator operational standards. The powder-coated or painted finish aids in extending service intervals by reducing surface degradation.

Q: How does the control device interface with the braking mechanism?

A: The system can be managed via a microprocessor or relay-based controller, providing precise command over the braking sequence and integration into the elevator's safety system for prompt response in emergencies.

Q: What are the benefits of the noise control feature in this braking system?

A: Operating at a maximum of 60 dB, the braking system contributes to a quieter elevator experience. This is particularly vital in residential and office settings, promoting occupant comfort and satisfaction.
